Romans 8:6
"To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace."
God enable us to set our minds on Your Spirit of Life. Amen.
How do we set our minds on the Spirit as we live in the world? First, through humble reliance upon the Holy Spirit in shaping our thoughts as we read the Scripture. The Spirit moves the believer to search diligently for the truth of God in the Word. Pray for the Spirit to give us a hunger for the truth of God found in the Word of God.
Secondly, prayerfully depend upon the power of the Spirit to use the truth of God's Word to conform our minds to the mind of Christ. In this way we will think as Christ thought and act accordingly. However, do not forget that it is the Spirit of God that enables us to walk in the Way of God. Praise Him!
In Him,
John

I will begin my blogging efforts with a prayer.
Father it is my prayer that you would use this venue to encourage, build up and teach the people You have called to Parkway. May the words and thoughts of this endeavor reflect Your wisdom by the grace You so freely give. Thank you for the opportunity to share with one another. In Jesus name, amen.
In the blogs to follow I hope to share with all of you the thoughts that God has put on my heart. Moreover, I hope to hear your thoughts on worship at Parkway or worship in general. That being said, the discussions will not be limited to the topic of worship. Feel free to ask questions, disagree, agree or whatever. God is good. I look forward to the interaction that God will bring through the sharing of thoughts and ideas on the blogsite.
In Him,
John

I’m struck by the fact that we’re (I’m) so quick to credit/blame the current economic downturn in the national economy to human causes. A telling example is observed in the fact that the major concern of voters in the upcoming presidential election is the slumping economy.

There is a subtle disintegration of community happening all around us. But in our fast-paced lives we often are unaware, as another small degree of community is lost from our lives.

The phrase that keeps coming to mind when I reflect on the diverse difficulties of these days is the infamous opening line from Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities. "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times...."
